It is possible to stop Siri from reading text messages on AirPods. If you dislike having the device interrupt you while you are doing something important, such as watching an episode of a favorite show, you can easily disable this feature. In this article, you will learn how to do just that.
When you first connect AirPods to your iPhone, you are prompted to allow Siri to read messages from your contacts. However, you can stop this from happening by using the Control Center. The Control Center allows you to mute your notifications for the day, or if you’d rather have them on all the time, you can turn the Do Not Disturb mode on. You can also set up a timer that enables you to turn off the announcements for specific times of the day.

To disable the announcements on AirPods, you can go to the Control Center and select the Announce Messages with Siri toggle switch. This switch is located in the upper left corner of the screen. Once you’ve done this, you’ll see a pop-up window that will explain how to disable it.
Before you can turn off Announce Messages with Siri, you will need to turn off the Reply Without Confirmation toggle. This setting will make the device read the message again, in order to confirm whether you’d like to receive the reply. On the other hand, if you have an app that supports Siri, you can use the “Reply without confirmation” option.
For AirPods that do not support this functionality, you can turn off the feature in Settings. If you do not want to enable it on your devices, you can find the toggle switch under Messages in the Notifications section. From there, you can scroll down to the bottom of the page and you will see an Announce Notifications option.

By default, the Announce Messages with Siri toggle is green, but you can change that. A pop-up will tell you if you’re already enabling it or not. After you click on this toggle, you will see a screen that lists all the apps that support the feature. If you aren’t sure what app you are using, you can select the App name to see more information about it.
Having a Siri that can announce your incoming text messages can be very helpful, but it can also be quite annoying. AirPods, especially when they are in use, can make a lot of noise and cause you to miss important conversations. But you can use the Headphones toggle to shut off the announcements when they are connected to your AirPods.
If you still have problems with the announcements, you can try to turn off Siri by going to the Settings menu and selecting Siri & Search. Depending on the type of AirPods you have, you may also have to turn off the Announce Notifications From and Announce When Connected To options.
You can also disable the Do Not Disturb mode on your iPhone. The Do Not Disturb mode will mute all of your notifications.
