How to Skip Songs With AirPods Pro

If you own an Apple AirPod, you might wonder how to skip songs with it. The AirPods are wireless headphones that have touch controls and a force sensor. This allows users to pause, resume, and skip tracks, depending on the generation. You can also configure the feature to allow you to control the volume and change the type of noise cancellation. By following these steps, you’ll be able to learn how to skip songs with your AirPods.

First, you’ll need to connect your AirPods to your iPhone. This will then open the Settings app. There, you can select your AirPod from a list of Bluetooth devices. Once you have selected your AirPod, you can then switch it to the left or right side. After you have done so, you can start playing the music. To play a song, you’ll need to double-tap the earbud. It’s not recommended to use the digital crown or touch controls for this task.

Second, you’ll need to adjust the settings on your AirPod. In the Bluetooth panel, you’ll need to turn off the double tap skipping. Double-tapping can be a great way to skip tracks. However, it can be disabled through the iOS device’s settings. Depending on your AirPods’ generation, you might need to configure this feature before it works. For example, the 1st Generation AirPods have a double-tap to skip songs, but you’ll need to tap the earbud twice to do this.

Finally, you’ll want to customize the “Next Track” option. The default option is to go to the next song, but you can customize it to perform other actions. For example, you can choose to skip backwards, which allows you to listen to your favorite songs without having to repeat them. Or, you can set the feature to let you choose between active noise cancellation and transparency mode.

Depending on your AirPod’s generation, you can either configure the “Next Track” option to work by itself, or you can enable the feature and allow it to work in conjunction with the other options. In the case of the 1st and 2nd generations of AirPods, you can simply tap the earbud twice to skip forward. On the other hand, you’ll need to triple-press the touch control on the stem to go backwards.

The third and fourth generations of AirPods, however, don’t have the double-tap function. They still have other functions, like the Digital Crown. This large knurled knob on the speaker ear cup can pause and resume audio. When you press it, you’ll get a blue checkmark.

In addition to the standard two-press to skip a track, you can configure the double-tap function to do other things, like open Siri. For instance, the second generation AirPods can be used to activate Siri by saying “Hey Siri.” And the AirPod Max can skip forward by double-clicking its digital crown.

While all AirPods can be configured to skim through your tracks, the Pro’s ability to activate Siri is a big bonus. In addition, the Pro’s active noise cancellation is also helpful.
